Description:
ETERNA ETERNAMATIC KONTIKI 18KT GOLD
Founded in 1856, Eterna has long been an undisputed protagonist of Swiss watchmaking. ETA, the famous Swiss movement factory, was originally founded by Eterna as a manufacturer of Swiss movements that were supplied to other companies. Eterna is also known for inventing a special automatic movement that uses miniature balls to drive the rotor. Hence the name “Eterna Matic”, which can be found on all automatic watches made by Eterna over the years. The history of the name “Kontiki” is also curious. The “Kontiki” was a scientific research vessel whose participants wore Eterna watches. Hence the tribute to the success of the expedition and the name found on some watches made over the years.
The present Eterna wristwatch is an excellent example of an Eternamatic Kontiki. The most attractive feature of this specimen is the fact that it is made entirely of 18kt yellow gold, something very rarely seen since most of those watches comes in stainless steel. Note that the bracelet and crown are factory original and bear the Eterna logo with the 5 dots. The overall conditions are excellent, the case is in extremely good condition, the dial has a nice patina, the movement works perfectly, the bracelet is tight. All components match the production period.
