Description:
CARTIER HELM WATCH WHITE GOLD
The 1930s and 1940s were a time of extreme experimentation in the world of watchmaking. As pocket watches gradually disappeared, all watchmaking houses began experimenting with new shapes and designs for wristwatches. Cartier was one of the most experimental brands and created watches with a unique design like this Cartier Helm. Nicknamed “Timone” by Italian collectors because of its resemblance to a ship’s wheel it is one of the rarest and most sought-after Cartier vintage watches for collectors. It has been made in different variants, sizes and precious materials, but very few have come to the market exceptionally preserved as this one.
The condition of this Cartier “Timone” is simply stunning. The white gold case still has a visible serial number and deep hallmarks. The movement works perfectly and the original dial is also in very good condition. Also present is a white gold folding clasp with the Cartier signature. This watch is featured on the “White Cartier Bianco”, book of Osvaldo Patrizzi Antiquorum Editions.
Serial Number 91XXX, Year Circa 40’s.
