Description:
Introduced in 1989, the Cartier Tank Américaine reinterpreted the legendary Tank Cintrée for a new generation, preserving its elegant elongated silhouette while offering a slightly broader, more contemporary profile. Designed to follow the natural curvature of the wrist, the Américaine combines exceptional comfort with the timeless design language that has defined Cartier’s Tank collection since 1917. Its graceful proportions, silvered guilloché dial, Roman numerals, blued-steel hands, and sapphire cabochon crown have established it as one of the Maison’s most elegant wristwatches.
The present reference 1734, produced in 1998, belongs to the inaugural years of Cartier’s celebrated Collection Privée Cartier Paris (CPCP), the prestigious series dedicated to reviving the Maison’s most iconic designs through the use of precious metals and finely finished mechanical movements. Crafted in platinum, one of the rarest metals employed by Cartier, it is powered by the manually wound calibre 430 MC, based on the ultra-thin Piaget 430P, a movement renowned for its reliability and refined construction. The combination of the noble platinum case and high-grade mechanical movement perfectly embodies the philosophy of the CPCP collection, where traditional watchmaking met Cartier’s unmistakable design heritage.
