Description:
Alain Silberstein began his career as an architect and interior designer, and has always been deeply passionate about art — a background that clearly shines through in all his creations. His brand was launched in 1987 at the Basel Fair, making him one of the very first truly independent watchmakers in the modern era. His timepieces are instantly recognizable, featuring artistic influences of remarkable depth: shapes and colors inspired by Piet Mondrian, Kandinsky, and Miró; case aesthetics drawn from the Bauhaus movement; and a visual language reminiscent of Keith Haring’s pop art. All of this is paired with high-quality, reliable movements.
The watch presented here stands apart from Silberstein’s more iconic works thanks to its 37 mm case, simpler and more minimal in design, lacking his usual extravagant forms — except for the signature triangular crown.
In contrast with the understated case, the dial showcases a beautifully crafted, highly detailed polychrome cloisonné enamel. The artwork depicts a yellow Chinese dragon over a stormy turquoise sea, set beneath a dramatic sky in shades of red and purple. The dial was created by Michel Vermot, the leading cloisonné enameller of the 1990s, who headed the team at Donzé Cadrans.
This piece one of a limited edition of 100 watches produced in 1999 and is powered by the prestigious ETA 2892-A2 calibre.
The watch comes with an exceptionally complete set of accessories: the original warranty, a CETEHOR accuracy evaluation, a certificate for the enamel dial signed by Michel Vermot, and an impressive presentation package including an additional bracelet, an extra clasp, a watchmaker’s screwdriver, a bracelet-removal tool, and a special device designed for the triangular crown to ensure effortless winding.
