Description:
The reference 1463, also known as the “Tasti Tondi”, is one of Patek Philippe’s most iconic chronographs. It holds a special place in the brand’s history as the first Patek chronograph to feature a water-resistant case with a screw-down caseback and distinctive round pump pushers — design elements that gave it a sportier look compared to its more classic counterparts.
Introduced in the 1940s, the reference remained in production for approximately 25 years, with an estimated total of around 750 pieces produced. The majority were crafted in yellow gold, while only a few rare examples, such as the present watch, were made in stainless steel.
This particular piece features an outstanding untouched two-tone dial, showcasing a beautiful outer tachymeter scale, a railroad minute track, and applied Arabic numerals at the 12 and 6 o’clock positions.
Powering the watch is the hand-wound Caliber 13”’, a movement celebrated for its reliability and elegance — further enhancing the historical significance of this timepiece.
Accompanied by the Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives, confirming its production in 1950 and subsequent sale in 1951, and its original Patek Philippe box, this watch is undoubtedly a dream piece for collectors of important vintage timepieces.
