Description:
IWC Ingenieur Meca-Quartz Chronograph Alarm ref. 9515 White Gold
The IWC Ingenieur is a classic line of luxury sports watches, originally introduced in 1955. Known for its robust construction and anti-magnetic properties, it became a favorite among engineers and scientists. Later models, especially those designed by Gérald Genta in the 1970s, featured the iconic integrated bracelet and bold, industrial design. The Ingenieur was produced in a variety of models, references, and materials. This particular example is an exceptionally rare reference, likely produced in the 1980s. It features a substantial 34mm case with a matching bracelet and a quartz chronograph movement with an alarm function. What makes this watch especially rare is that it is made of white gold, while most of the Mecquartz IWC models with alarms were made in steel, making this example extremely uncommon.
The present IWC Ingenieur reference 9515 is an extraordinarily rare watch, as its case is crafted in white gold—a feature that is seldom seen. At the time, it would have been extremely expensive due to both the white gold case and bracelet, as well as its innovative, state-of-the-art quartz movement. This movement is not just a standard quartz chronograph but also includes an alarm function, which was highly desirable for the period. The overall condition is exceptional: the case shows some wear but appears untouched, the dial is mint with a lovely warm patina on the indexes and hands, the movement works perfectly, and the bracelet has no stretch.
